FNORD nominations - final
We have two nominees this year for the Graphic Arts award. Max's exquisitely detailed map of Ashkenatza's capital, Kolmenitzky, and Victoria's very impressive national website.
The only nominee this year for Most Promising Micronation is the Kingdom of Victoria. As always when we have only one nominee, judges will be asked to either confirm Victoria, cast a vote for a write-in candidate, or decide that no one should get the award this year.
Ardashir Khan in his incarnation as Kaiser Aurangzeb of Shireroth has been nominated for leadership. The Kaiser's reign was notable for starting ultimately successful annexation talks with Hawshire and Hurmu, reworking the honors system, and pushing declassification of secret documents. Under his reign, Shireroth had its third highest post per day count ever. Standard single-nomination procedures apply. He competes against Chris Mules of Antica, who although rarely the official leader has been the "spiritual" head of the Republic of Antica since its foundation.
The Jeremy Bellamy Award For Jeremy Bellamy-Related Literature Similar To That Of Jeremy Bellamy is the most hotly contested, with five different nominees. Both Andreas and myself were nominated separately for our work in the Nelagan War of Independence; however, I decline my nomination on the grounds of I'm in charge of the awards. The Ocian War sees one nomination from each side: on the Ashkenatzan side, Ardashir Khan for Pasha's Journey To The North, and on the Ocian side, Kolya Radchenko's patriotic writing. Benkern has also been nominated for his Stormark work Raudbjorn's Saga, but declined the nomination on grounds that the story was unfinished. Note that although two nominees declined their nominations, judges are not obligated to respect this if they don't want to.
The Bill Dusch Award for Cultural Development will be contested between two candidates. Aryeztur Mejorkhor has spent years developing his Antican territory of Aryez, detailing its geography, philosophy, scriptures, and language among other things; more recently, he has brought some of the same dedication to Shireroth's Duchy of Goldshire, which he now rules. Up against him is the neighboring Shirerithian Duchy of Elwynn. Elwynn combines several distinct cultures, and has lately been developing a system Andreas calls "story war", with plots like Cho'Gall's Giant Bug Invasion. In the less insect-infested regions of the Duchy, the Hyperboreans have been developing their own culture as well as overseeing a minor resurgence in that of Treesia.
The Josh Coales Award for Best New Idea has a joint nomination - that of Erik and Ari for the Small Commonwealth. Ari Rahikkala helped develop the preliminary idea of the Small Commonwealth (it's changed a lot since that draft), a minimally binding organization of countries based around the idea of a set of treaties that each could choose to sign or not sign at their leisure. Erik Mortis helped develop the idea and has served as the Commonwealth's first and so far only leader. I was also nominated for QUARREL, but because that hasn't been released to the public yet and most people don't know what it is, I decline in favor of next year.
The Small Commonwealth also dominates the running for the Tony Au Award for Economics, though this time the nomination is joint between Erik Mortis and Andreas the Wise. I don't claim to fully understand the Small Commonwealth Unified Economy, but it's linked the economies of most Small Commonwealth members and been in operation for the better part of a year now without collapsing, which is impressive in itself.
We have three nominees for the Iain Jacobson Journalism Award. Harvey Steffke ran the short-lived but popular Apollo Aurora from October to November 2009, covering news "from the Small Commonwealth and beyond". Matt Kovac has proven his staying power with an entire year of Millennium News, which has withstood accusations of pro-Ocian bias to become the news source some people love to hate and other people just plain love. And Ashkenatza's Litovsker Tagblatt has impressed many with its consistent publication schedule, witty writing, beautiful newspaper-like format, and comprehensive coverage of Ashkenatza and its neighbors.
The Liam conToketi Award for Most Promising Micronationalist is between Allot and Leo of Shireroth and Alex Allenby of Ashkenatza. Allot and Leo both joined Shireroth in spring of this year. Both have served as Duke of Elwynn and catalyzed that region's transformation; Allot has been Praetor and MiniEx, and Leo has served as Steward of Shireroth and head of its controversial fictional space program. Alex Allenby joined Ashkenatza early this year. He participated in the brief Green Thunder period and was instrumental in their railway program and radio.
Overall Achievement Award is always one of the hardest to decide. Chris Mules of Antica was one of the two founders of the nation, and survived the Dinarchial/Republican transition to become the most respected and venerated member of the Antican republic. Nathan founded Natopia way back in prehistory, ruled it until just this year, and has brought us Butter Cows, MSPaint buildings, giant space fleets, and homosexual marriages.
I'll be opening a private voting thread in the judges' forum. Anyone who wants may make comments or push their favorites here. If I left out anything important that a nominee or their supporters want to add, this would be the place.
Congratulations to all nominees for getting this far, and good luck.

The FNORD judges' forum is locked. Can someone please unlock it? Also, I forgot to mention this originally, but Emperor Edgard should also have access.

Re: FNORD nominations - final
Not true, I nominated Chris for both Overall Achievement and Leadership. He has been glorious Archon and sometime Speaker of the 2nd/3rd Republic of Antica, and the Commonwealth. He hasn't always been at the centre of controversy, but he's always led us well, with prudence, with care, and with the wisdom that should come with experience but does not always. Basically since we were born again, he has been there, and in charge almost always. And we've done well.Likewise, our only nominee for Leadership is Ardashir Khan in his incarnation as Kaiser Aurangzeb of Shireroth.

I would just like to confirm that it was many months of hard work from Bjorn Olsen that resulted in the fantastic nation we know as Victoria today. The graphic designs and most of what you see visually is down to him
Re: FNORD nominations - final
I have to confess that I'm impressed by Victoria in some respects, but somewhat suprisingly the site is not one of them. The bulk of it is a myriad of images lifted from various offical sites.

Not much in this hobby isn't lifted from some pre-existing source.
Re: FNORD nominations - final
Aster, you're being a little unfair there... although admittedly Victoria's website loses some of its splendour when your realise their Queen is in fact the President of Ukraine.
