Re: Official war thread
A Quiet Day
The Bounty Hunters had devestated Caligae. Most of the seaport was flattened along with several commerical areas nearby. The strike had been a huge success. What remained of the city was left powerless. Casualties were definitely going to be high and the Caligae shipyard was going to be out of commission for a long time. If Norfolk was sent to the darkages, then Caligae was virtually removed from the world. Inspite of this, the Empire still had a few targets identified that had to be taken out. For this, they sent out a lone Trishul fighter, armed with 8 laser-guided GBU-12 Paveway II bombs and 4 AIM-120 AMRAAMs for self-defense. Its mission was to destroy 8 targets that were going to be lit up by lasers. These ranged from telecommunication facilities to drinking-water plants to police and other armed forces quarters.
The enemy had regrouped fairly quickly after the Empire had struck. The Bounty hunters had reported contacting enemy Dipov fighters and the Avekshak on duty indicated they could have come from Civitas Nova. Further reports indicated the presence of S-300 anti-aircraft units at Civitas Nova and Port Illumination. Combined with the presence of a Shirerithian fleet nearby, it meant that the Empire could not aid in the defense of La Terre as effectively as it had done up till now. If the Empire had to successfully provide support in the defense of La Terre, then they would have to face losses. And that was something that would destroy the Empire's plans in the region if the Bounty Hunters were to be viped out. But defense of La Terre was essential at this point, and the Empire recognized that fact. To that end, four fighters of the Bounty Hunters squadron took off. Each was armed with 4 BGM-109D Tomahawk misile. They would fire these missiles from a safe enemy zone, which at the moment was identified as airspace North of 70 degrees and away from Port Illumination's S-300 unit. From here, well outside the range of enemy aircrafts and missiles, the four Trishuls would fire their Tomahawks towards La Terre, making a total of 16 Tomahawks. Each Tomahawk would fly close to the ground inorder to avoid being detected, if it was possible to detect such a missile. It would avoid flying anywhere close to the known locations of the radar sites and quickly move-in to La Terre airspace. Once there, the Ocian forces would take control of the Tomahawks and retarget them appropriately to aid them in the best possible manner. Each Tomahawk was armed with 202 submunitions. That meant a total of 3232 anti-armor charges being fired on top of the advancing enemy forces. That would be a nice little help for the Ocians in La Terre on a quiet day.
The rest of the Bounty Hunters were going to take rest. They were going to need it for the upcoming airbattle against the Shirerithian Dipovs. When that happens, the Bounty Hunters would be well-rested and well-prepared against the Dipov pilots who would have been flying fruitless missions continously for several hours, perhaps days before the action. The defense against any inbound air strike from the enemy at the moment would be countered by the presence of a few AWACS in the skies, along with the five Trishuls that are performing their missions. Not to mention the S-400 ground units, which would also provide a very strong defense.
The five Trishuls were not the only aircrafts performing a mission. A couple of Vijayi multi-purpose helicopters had taken off as well carrying a couple of ground units, heading towards the Shirerithian borders. They were going to supply the special forces and paratroopers their with some more firepower.
Caligae
The paratrooper got a signal from the Avekshak informing him that the plane was inbound. He took his laser designator and lit up the military police installation, which housed the armaments and personnel. Many were already dead in the strikes earlier, but some had survived in a couple of buildings that were still somehow miraculously standing. A minute later, the paratrooper saw the plane fly overhead. He ducked quickly behind a half-standing wall, while still keeping the laser designator firmly aimed at the military police installation. A few seconds later, a big explosion brought down the installation entirely.
Within a couple more minutes, seven more explosions were heard. The paratrooper moved on to meet up with the rest of the group, which were spread around Caligae in key spots that were identified as essential to their mission. Several parts of the city were already taken over by small teams of paratroopers. However, some fighting was still taking place at the airfield. Several paratroopers were injured and a few had even died, but taking the airfield was important.
The special forces team leader looked on at his fellow member, waiting for him to give the sign. The sign that the second air raid over Caligae was over. It was imperative to wait for that before beginning their mission. The nod came soon and the team leader took a final breath and a moment to concentrate on the mission. The nod meant that Caligae had now lost all forms of telecommunication facilities and that if any survived, it would be either attacked by the paratroopers nearby or jammed by the ELINT and Avekshak aircraft flying in the safe battle zone nearby. This meant that the enemy would not be able to signal for help to other friendly forces nearby. But it wouldn't last long and the special forces had to move quickly. The team leader gave the point man the signal to proceed, who quickly jumped over the partially damaged old passenger car and started shooting. Shirerithian military police men, who had either been partially injured or morally lost at the airstrike earlier didn't see the special forces members coming and before they could do anything, they hit the floor dead. The special forces team leader caught a glimpse of the name of facility just before entering it. The Caligage Missile Storage Facility. Their mission: destruction or acquisition of the thousand missiles present there.
Summary:
First off, Ardashir, those contacts you had, returned back quickly. I am assuming we saw each other after they performed their task. They returned without getting involved at all.
New strikes sent out.
1 Trishul with 8 laser-guided bombs over the city of Caligae. It also has 4 AIM-120 for anti-air defense.
4 Trishul with 4 BGM-109D Tomahawks each, fire from a safe zone. Each Tomahawk is armed with 202 anti-armor submunitions (total of 3,232 charges from 16 missiles). Once near La Terre, control will be passed on to Montague to use them as he pleases (i dont know how he plans on defending the city and what elements of Malliki are where. Thus, its best if he were to post where each missile is hitting).
A couple of Vijayi multi-role transport helicopters (orbatted) are flying towards Shirerithian border with some ground units on them.
Caligae's telecommunications and military/police forces have been struck with bombs. Those that survived have been targeted. The rest were destroyed in the massive strike earlier. Paratroopers have taken over parts of the city, and slight fighting is on at the airfield. A few casualties for the paratroopers. Special forces are hitting the missile storage facility at Caligae, where the 880 remaining missiles are kept. Most of the telecommunications in Caligae is down, and what remains is being jammed heavily by aircrafts flying nearby. Thus, an attack at this facility and the presence of military force is not being revealed to the outside world right away. At best, it would take say five six hours to hear about it, and then some more to confirm and then some to actually send re-inforcements... by then, i do expect to get things wrapped up here (as there are no orbatted units in Caligae other than those missiles).

Re: Official war thread
OOC: Extreme, how can you launch Tomahawks from airplanes? They are launched from ships or submarines. I might concede land based firing, but Trishuls? Come on. They also require a specific command center, so "handing them off" to the Ocians might be difficult.
Also, your Vijayi have a combat range of 690 km with no in-flight refueling capability (at least not according to the Wikipedia entry on the Osprey or your Orbat), which puts you not even half way to Caligae. Even with the range figure of 1627 km, you still end up in the ocean.
I'm willing to take this to the judge. If you're going to fight like this I might just as well pull back to Mortis Mercatoria. Getting hit by 16 Tomahawks will mean that I lose my entire force, or close to it, in La Terre in one sweep.

OOC: you are more than welcome to challenge them.
1. F-15s are capable of firing tomahawks. if the judge asks, i'd be happy to provide resources to that end.
2. While its true that the combat range of Ospreys are 690 kms, this isn't combat. Its a simple range (1600+ kms) or a ferry range (4400 kms). Most of the while its in safe airspace and doesn't need to be 'combatting' then. I personally think the combat range means the osprey is in helicopter mode for the entire time, while the other ranges mean its in the aircraft mode and thereby increasing its range.
3. Regarding handing them over, all i mean is that the Ocian ground-commanders will be in charge of where they want the missiles to hit. So, just assume that its going to be similar to: ground commander calls up ocian superiors saying coordinates x,y ; ocian supervisors contact Empire C3 informing of the new co-ordinates ; missile re-directed to co-ordinates x,y.... i have no idea how the city looks, where your positions are, where monty's positions are etc.. thus, i am just letting monty say where the missiles are aimed at...

Re: Official war thread
SummaryThroughout the time since they began to reassemble, the marines and sailors of Task Force Vanguard and MEU Farhang spent the majority of their time preparing for their next mission, acquiring additional arctic gear and such. In a move that confuses some onlookers, two of MEU Farhang's tanks and four of its APC's were loaded onto the two An-124's (which had been looted from the airport in Newport the week before and flown to Kamalshahr). Work was also done reinforcing the bellies of and adding wheel-skis to the An-124's as well the two Tu-154's.
Finally, around noon, Task Force Vanguard began to leave port again; this time heading towards Vistoc. By this time tomorrow, the task force should reach the antarctic ice, and from there the addition of SS Rastakhiz should facilitate arrival by Saturday.
However, a force of 360 marine infantrymen, two M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks and four LAV-25 armored personnel carriers was left at the airport in Kamalshahr.
Task Force Vanguard leaves port for an eventual destination of Vistoc (and should be there by Saturday).
The bottoms of the two An-124's and two Tu-154's have been reinforced.
Wheel-skis have been added to the landing gear of the above aircraft.
A small force of marines was left with the aircraft at the airport in Kamalshahr.

Are the Tomahawks in or out in my reply? Sort of need to know and don't want to post around something that may be ruled inadmissable. Can you 2 chaps sort it out before I write my reply?

OOC: consider it in... the scenario being, your ground commanders calling in the co-ordinates they want the missiles to be fired upon to the cruiser at port... which forwards it to my units, which in return updates the co-ordinates on the tomahawks...
then, if guido deems it not possible, then we'll move from there.

I can't rule on anything unless a thread is started with everything clearly explained, as per the guidelines.
Re: Official war thread
Summary'Bugger!'
Goltz examined his pocket watch.
'Where is the bastard?'
Gyeneral Allenby still had not arrived in East Mishalan Muse and the wait was becoming interminable, to the point where even Tinned Falafel and She Loves You in Yiddish had become thoroughly monotonous. Some mildly amusing events had taken place, however- the obsequious little Amokolian Mayor had given the Ashkenatzi forces a list of known collaborators during the thumb of the Ocian régime, who had been 'persuaded' to recant their sins in front of a jeering crowd waving Amokolian Provisional Authority flags- a mini Cultural Revolution in more than one sense. Goltz had been mildly amused, sitting on the hôtel balcony with a Gin and Tonic, to hear the crowd chanting in broken Yiddish in front of Kovac's former 'socialist' Party Headquarters 'Vir zin' das Folk!'- We are the people!
After the amusement had ceased and Goltz had had more than he could stomach of the Beatles in Yiddish- the songs 'Hilf!' (Help!) and 'Palkovnik Pfeffers Elner Hertz Klub Kapelye' (Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts' Club Band) had been played repeatedly for Allenby's impending arrival, it became clear the Gyeneral was going to be delayed.
After leaving a small contingent of military police behind to ensure the town's fealty and to establish it as a forward supply base, Kampfgruppe Goltz sped off for Mittlere Stadt into the pitch black Amokolian night, leaving a dead Siamese cat, some empty Falafel tins and a bored looking Kampfgruppe Megiddo behind them.
- It transpires that Gyeneral Allenby isn't going to arrive any time soon, so the Beatles in Yiddish (clicky) is to the relief of all turned off.
- Anti-Ocian demonstrations occur in the city centre, coincidentally in front of the one remaining building where a few Ocian government officials have remained.
- East Mishalan Base specified as forward supply base for Kampfgruppe Goltz, which leaves in its entirety save for a few military police and OYVEY operatives for Mittlere Stadt under cover of darkness.
- Kampfgruppe Megiddo remains to await Gyeneral Allenby's return to take command.

Re: Official war thread
Biscan noted with some relief as the reports entered his command centre that the enemy task group had once again split itself up. If they'd continued en masse against the reinforced 9th Infantry Regiment they'd have broken through the line again as he wouldn't have had time to reinforce. Now that they had split up he had the advantage again as his remaining forces outnumbered the remaining enemy task groups assigned to each unit. Annoyingly he was informed of the Fortitude's ammunition situation. Reluctantly he ordered it to cease its barrage on the central thrust until he gave the order to resume. He had to conserve his supplies.
There was one particular worry though; his exposed Western flank. Thankfully they had not yet become aware of the fact that there was no force to defend it as they moved through what would have been the first line of defence. True there were mines in place from when the 6th Infantry Regiment had guarded the Western approaches but they had been moved to defend the Northern. Now Biscan ordered a hasty readjustment of his lines. The 10th Infantry Regiment, formerly in reserve, moved to engage the flanking enemy force on his right. The Reserve Harrier's strike force was despatched quickly to harass the enemy's advance on his right. His lines would hold for now.
******************************
Corporal Dragonov of the 8th Infantry Regiment had fought the first enemy advance into La Terre and successfully repelled it with his squad of 6 riflemen, 1 marksman, 1 RPG crew and 2 LMGs and the rest of the Regiment. For the past day the battle had raged on his right and he was helpless thanks to orders to protect this portion of the line. Now he was going to face action again as an enemy force went to engage his flank. He saw the tanks leading and dismounted troops of the enemy swarming around the Halftracks behind. Orders came through his earpiece to hold fire until Colonel Ulyev gave the order personally. The tank rumbled forwards, firing occasionally from its main cannon and machine gun into old defensive positions, as Dragonov's squad huddled behind the rubble of what had once been an elegant (for Amokolian standards anyway) townhouse. Dragonov began deploying his squad for what he only hoped would be the time to attack. His marksman climbed the exposed staircase of the townhouse to occupy a position in the attic with which he could command a view over the advancing enemy. One of his LMGs followed up the stairs to occupy a position in the old master bedroom. His other LMG set up for a base of fire from behind the rubble along the fairly wide street which could accomodate a single tank rolling up it. His riflemen took up positions to the left of the LMG along with himself while the RPG waited just behind them in the old mansion house living room ready to pounce. He was surprised when he found himself with an extra man under his command.
"Who are you, dickhead?" asked Dragonov in his rough manner.
"Engineer Rastopov from 4th Platoon, 8th Infantry Regiment. I've been sent to plant explosives on the tanks. Command orders." replied the young engineer. Dragonov grunted acknowledgement. He had no use for the man and obviously command had given him his orders.
"Give me covering fire when ordered, Corporal." ordered the Engineer, much to Dragonov's chargrin.
"Remember to take out the officers first, Yuri." ordered Dragonov to his marksman via his radiopiece. Almost as soon as he said the words the order came through from Ulyev to begin firing. Dragonov clicked his radio in acknowledgement and ordered his squad to open up. Sure enough Yuri fired first as the LMGs opened up and Dragonov saw the enemy forces hit the ground as they found themselves suddenly under fire. The Engineer, Rastopov, suddenly darted his way over the rubble as Dragonov grabbed his RPG team and directed them away from firing at the tank but instead at the 2 halftracks behind it. A moment later Dragonov heard the explosives go off as Rastopov crumpled to the ground on his way back from the tank which was hidden behind dust and smoke now.
"Ballsy bastard!" roared Dragonov in perverse delight as he kept up his attack against the enemy infantry.
***********************************
For Tank Commander Helena Petrov it was a different story. She had been waiting in the District Park 2 along with the rest of the 2nd Light Cavalry Regiment and the 9th Infantry which had assumed its defensive positions in the park. The park was a collection Amokolian designed buildings for community cohesion set around a lake. The few bridges over it were heavily targetted by 9th Infantrymen and were unsuitable for tanks to travel over. Not that they'd need to as the lake was only about 4 ft deep. The psychological barrier of to going into the water to fight the Ocians would hopefully serve as a deterrent to the infantrymen while the tanks thought twice about entering water they did not know the depth of. And so Helena watched the central thrust of enemy tanks advance along the park pathways and to the edge of the water before stopping. The T55s were concealed behind trees, camoflage netting and the falling rain made it hard to spot them. The orders were simple and that was to begin the firing for the rest of the force blocking this central thrust. And so it would be 19 venerable tanks against 20 modern battle tanks. The venerable tanks had a surprise up their sleeve though; the 9M117 Bastion gun fired missile. She picked her tank and switched on the laser designator, moving it to target just in betwen the turret and chassis of the tank. Then the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Light Cavalry gave his order to fire and she duly obeyed. 19 tongues of flame exploded from tanks along the waterway as she and every other tank began reversing at maximum speed to the fall back position at the final defensive line. Mortar shells began to land on the advancing force as the 1500 men of the 9th Infantry Regiment and remainder of the 7th unleashed mortar, RPG and HMG fire in a co-ordinated attack upon the enemy advance.
Image of the District Park 2. Ocian forces would be on right bank with enemy on right.
************************************
"All forces fall back to final defensive position immediately. There will be no exceptions." ordered Biscan into the radio personally.
"Relay the co-ordinates to our Imperial friends!" he ordered moments later smiling. The Tomahawks generously given by the Imperial Empire would come very much in handy as they fell upon the enemy forces advancing.
Summary:
Losses from Harrier attack by Malliki
No losses incurred. My Harriers abandoned the airfield almost immediately and since then have been based in city centre on cleared central avenue. The Judge had been notified of this.
Losses from advance into city by Malliki:
9th Infantry Regiment have lost 123 men.
7th Infantry Regiment down to 100 men.
8th Infantry Regiment have lost 57 men.
My attack:

8th Infantry deploy its 4th Platoon to plant explosives on tracks of tanks coming through their positions. The remaining infantry target at will in surprise defensive attack.
19 T-55s attack 20 enemy MBTs with 9M117 Bastion munitions before making to retreat to final defensive position.
9th Infantry and 7th Infantry hold line against central thrust with combination of RPGs, HMGs, GPMGs, LMGs and mortars.
8 Tomahawks used against central thrust.
4 Tomahawks used against thrust against right flank.
4 Tomahawks used against thrust against left flank.
10th Infantry Regiment move to engage remnants of A Squadron.

A few days earlier...
General Allenby goes to East Mislan Muse as secures the town siglehandedly
General Allenby spends some quality time in East Mislan Muse before leaving to join +II corps
Sumary:General Allenby had arrived tacticaly and headed for the camp. He found some ashes, a few old foil ration packs carelessly discarded and a note. It read "Joining +I corps."
"Shit" He though aloud. No radio, no phone and no food... he turned the note over.
"PS. Arctic storm heading your way. ETA 10th September." It was he noticed cold suddenly... The two mile walk to the nearest phone would be useful to keep warm.
About 40 minutes later he arrived in East Mislan Muse. The town appeared empty yet again. Houses, shops and resturants abandoned. But as he got closer to the center of town he found things a little more cheery. A few shops that wernt abandoned... but were none the less closed. Then he turned a corner. Brightly coloured flags and flowers every where and people. Thousands of people. Big banners saying "Welkome Ashkenatza". Apparently the securing of the town was scheduled for today and had been declared a national holiday. Bit disapointing then, when only General Allenby turned up...
A few drinks, a few hours later and General Allenby was very unkempt. His clothes were loosley hanging on him, he eyes were rolling and he stank of cheap purfume, cigaretes and whisky... It had been a hell of a few hours, since he recently discoverd that he was related to another famous general who had helped give Amokolia its independance all those years ago, and saved East Mislan Muse (the then capital) from being ransacked by mercinaries.
The next day he awoke, head saw, chin unshaven. Now he would have some explaining to do. He bid goodbye to the people of East Mislan Muse. His uniform was un-ironed and his boots un-polished. When he finnaly arrived to retake comand of +II corps, he was going ot have some serious explaining to do...

Re: Official war thread
Sumary:"Bloody hell" exclaimed General Allenby upon discovering via the radio comunication sent to Smzhuel Astopov that +II corps had recently headed back to East Mislan Muse to capture it, and to give him a welcome celebration. Unfortunatley the news had come too late for the helicopter to turn back without refueling an a night mission was not going to end well for him and the tired pilot. So it was with regret that they landed with some of Szhumel Astopovs trailing forces to refuel. Ashkenatzi rations had never tasted so good...
General Allenby contiues to lose the game of cat and mouse being played between him and +II corps.
Molshe Goltz does not respond to radio messages so General Allenby has no option but to return to East Mislan Muse the next day...

OOC:
When you didn't arrive, we started for Mittlere Stadt.
Surely all it takes is for you to get over to East Mishalan Muse, regain command, and follow my troops to La Terre? I don't honestly see how this is a game of 'cat and mouse'...
Allenby, I'm frankly at a loss here. My forces secured East Mishalan Muse and awaited for you to get over there to regain control of Kampfgruppe Megiddo (the remaining component of +II Corps, now that Pachad controls the air element).General Allenby contiues to lose the game of cat and mouse being played between him and +II corps.

+II moves off to La Tere at full speed
A few days earlier
General Allenby catches up with +IIGeneral Allenby had arrived in East Mishilan Muse earlier that day. Finaly catching up with his troops. Now he was once again alone with his thoughts , except of course for the Beatles translated into Yiddish, as they sped along the bumpy excuse for a road to catch up with the Noshi at La Tere. Finaly action.

Yours is Ours
The guards at the Caligae Missile Storage Facility had been quickly neutralized by the special forces with very few casualties. Once the facility was secured, teams of special forces began moving the eight hundred and odd number of missiles from the facility towards the loading trucks, which had been brought from various parts of the city, by the paratroopers. With the roadway to the airport secured by other teams of paratroopers as well as the airport itself, the paratroopers began shifting the missiles from the storage facility towards the airports. Four MTV A1 medium tactical trucks parked at the facility were being used, along with 3 Mercendez-Benz Sprinter civilian cargo vans and 2 International Durastar civilian trucks, to help transport the missiles from the storage facility to the airport. All combined allowed the paratroopers to move roughly 70 missiles per trip. At the airport, the missiles were being stacked in different places. Some were being placed around taxiways in groups of 14 missiles, while others were beings placed in groups of 20 at the end of the main runway. From Leng, aircrafts had taken off already to transport these missiles back to Leng. Vijayis from the 853rd Corsairs would stop at the taxiways and take in the 14 missiles each, while the large transport aircrafts, from the 855th Titans, would take close to 230 missiles each.
The operation was proceeding smoothly. The airforce had already destroyed the bulk of the resistance at Caligae. The rest were killed by the paratroopers and special forces as they went about securing the paths to the airport. Multiple paths had been secured incase some paths had been compromised. Transport aircrafts and multi-purpose helicopters were inbound to take these missiles back to Leng. And all of this was happening without the enemy knowing what was going on in Caligae.
Summary: Transportation of missiles from the storage facility to the Caligae airport is being conducted without any news of it leaving the city as of yet. Aircrafts inbound to Caligae to take these missiles back to Leng. Also secret action made.
